What will happen to Giuseppe Meazza? He certainly won't be totally demolished. The Regional Administrative Court of Lombardy rejected the appeal of the Mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, to obtain the annulment of the positive opinions of the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and the Regional Commission for Cultural Heritage in relation to the existence of a cultural interest for the plant used for the home matches of Inter and Milan. Nothing to be done, appeal rejected.
The doors are closing on the total revaluation project of the San Siro area with the construction of a new facility and the subsequent demolition of the current Giuseppe Meazza. Only the idea proposed a few months ago by the Mayor of Milan remains alive: a major renovation of the stadium, respecting the limits imposed and with minimal investments compared to building a system from scratch. Precisely for this reason Beppe Sala wasted no time and after receiving the response from the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court he decided to relaunch his project.
“Today's ruling is also one more step to say that San Siro cannot be demolished, so there are two alternatives: either we manage to convince the teams to regenerate San Siro and it is a victory for the city or, if this does not happen , San Siro risks turning into something that loses a bit of its role. So it wouldn't be good for anyone. Before, when I talked about Linate, I thought about San Siro too. San Siro has gone through difficult weeks and months but we can hope that through this work carried out by WeBuild there may be the opportunity to give it a second life.”
