Niche seems to be the right word to describe the specific genre of “city building” or “city builder”. Genre is used to refer to games that make the challenge of building a city neatly, facilitating the needs of the people, and continuing to progress and develop as the main selling point. Some of course come with their own gimmicks and levels of complexity. Who became a star not long ago? Of course, Manor Lords from Slavic Magic as the developer and Hooded Horse as the publisher were released in Early Access.
The opportunity to build your town and village in a setting inspired by 14th century Francoria, which also features war mechanics within it, Manor Lords was a huge success on Steam. Once a game with a massive wishlist, Hooded Horse announced that they managed to sell 1 million copies in just 1 day of release. What's crazier? He managed to record a number of concurrent players of up to 170 thousand, the highest for the city building genre of all time for Steam. This means it beats big names like Cities: Skylines.
Since yesterday’s launch Manor Lords has already sold over 1 million copies & hit a peak Steam concurrent player count of 170k – highest ever for a city builder (or for other different genres like GSG/4x/colony sim). Congrats @LordsManorwe’re honored to serve as your publisher! pic.twitter.com/559uGRp1NO

Even though it is not yet perfect, the balancing process still needs further handling, Manor Lords itself has succeeded in getting a lot of positive responses from gamers too. How about you? Have you kept yourself busy with this game?
