New measure against unwanted calls
All completed calls lasting up to 6 seconds will be considered short. Until then, calls lasting up to 3 seconds were considered short. The rule comes into effect from June 1st. The new limit arrives to optimize “Don’t Perturbe Me”, a program created in 2019 by Anatel to contain the practice in Brazil.

According to the regulatory agency, the “Qual Empresa Me Called” portal continues to operate. As the name suggests, the service allows you to identify whether the persistent number is linked to a CNPJ. Since June 2022, more than R$28 million in fines have been imposed against abusive calls.
The information is from Agência Brasil.
Brazil is champion in abusive calls
According to a study by Truecaller released in mid-2023, Brazil is the champion of calls of this type. According to an Anatel report, “Brazil remained the leader of the country with the highest number of spam in the world (for 4 years in a row), with 32.9 spam calls per user, per month”. The agency adds that “there is a significant gap” between the average number of spam calls received in Brazil (32.9 calls per user, per month) versus Peru (18.02 calls per user per month), for example, in the second position.
Another proposal from the National Telecommunications Agency is the creation of a unique number, code 304, to identify these calls.
