Marquez has arrived: now he has the Ducati in his hands
If he didn't see the checkered flag in the last two races, Marc Marquez arrived in Jerez to redeem himself and the start was decidedly good. After completing the morning session in second position, in the afternoon he finished in third place, 143 thousandths from the first (Bagnaia) and seemed confident and confident riding his Ducati GP23 from the Gresini team. A feeling that he himself confirmed in words: “One thing is certain: the adaptation to Ducati is over.”
On the same track where he injured his right arm in 2020, today the music is very different. Thanks also to the work done in the garage: “We worked on the basis of the last GP and things immediately went well. I struggled a little more with the afternoon wind, but we're there… even if there are many who are fast.” First of all Francesco Bagnaia, who touched the track record with the Ducati Desmosedici GP24, and then also Maverick Vinales with the official Aprilia. The two of them preceded him in the Friday time table.
“We need to iron out the details”
MM93 is very clear about what there is to improve: “We lose a bit in turn 5 and in the final sector, now we need to refine the details to stay with the best”. Looking at the rest of the track, he is one of the fastest in the first and third sectors.
Tomorrow he will have to take a step forward to realize these good feelings in the Sprint and the GP, but first in the qualifying to guarantee a good position on the starting grid: “We continue to work session after session, qualifying is the next step.”
