Performed in recent days in Rome, at the San Pietro Fatebenefratelli Hospital, a particularly complicated and innovative operation, carried out by the well-known Orthopedist and Head Doctor Prof. Franceschi, through the replacement of a standard prosthesis with another completely designed and built ad hoc for the patient.
The shoulder plays a crucial role in our mobility, strength and daily well-being and represents one of the most fundamental and versatile joints in the human body. Despite being a seemingly small part, its importance is enormous. The shoulder joint is responsible for a wide range of movements that allow the upper extremities to perform a myriad of daily activities. Its flexibility and ability to adapt to different situations are crucial to guarantee our autonomy and quality of life.
It is therefore essential to understand the importance of the shoulder from both an anatomical and functional point of view. An in-depth knowledge of this joint is essential to prevent injuries and pathologies that could compromise our ability to carry out normal activities and not give up our sporting passions and more.

Precisely in these days a very particular and innovative operation was performed for the first time in Rome at the San Pietro Fatebenefratelli Hospital, through the replacement of a standard prosthesis with another completely designed and built specifically for the patient, which is he was in a decidedly complicated situation with a devastated shoulder with several fragmentations and significant bone loss caused by the old prosthesis. The choice was therefore to have a “tailor made” prosthesis produced based on a rendering constructed with the CT scan of the patient's shoulder, which would adapt perfectly to the new situation. Using personalized guides, Prof. Franceschi, assisted by his team, managed to implant it successfully, so much so that the next day the patient was able to perform movements that he had forgotten for some time.
