VC Zwolle – which had not previously been in the cup final – took a three-point lead in the first set, but Apollo 8 came alongside and took the first set 25-20. In a very exciting second set, both teams missed several set points. Ultimately, VC Zwolle struck at the fourth opportunity (28-26), leveling the score again.
