In his presentation on the program podcast Officially PlayStation, this console has reached extraordinary numbers in the world by the end of its production period.
In podcast When asked about the most pressing thing in the 2000s, Jim Ryan said that total final sales of PS2 consoles reached 160 million units. This was an experience that left a lasting impression on his mind.

In the 2000s? I would say, 160 million, which is the number of PS2s we sold. (That's) a big accomplishment.

This figure is above the calculations of analysts who estimate the final PS2 sales figure to reach around 155-159 million units. Sony itself decided to end sharing public information about console sales figures in 2011.
The production duration of this device lasted from 2000 to 2013. In other words, during the last 2 years of production it is not known for certain how much sales the console achieved.
