Miami, March 29, 2024 – Jannik Sinner overwhelms Daniil Medvedev 6-1, 6-2 in 1h10' in the semifinal of the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami and qualifies for the final scheduled for Sunday. The 22-year-old Italian, number 2 seed and third player in the world, dominates the Russian, third player in the draw, in a match without history. Compared to the Australian Open final won in January in the fifth set after an extraordinary comeback, this time Sinner dictates the law from start to finish.
The number 3 in the world – who will become number 2 in the event of a title in Miami – comes out of the blocks shooting, flying to 5-0 in the first set against an opponent unable to enter the match. The South Tyrolean is practically perfect: almost 70% of first balls, just 3 gratuitous errors, more than one point out of 2 with the return. A monologue that leaves no escape for Medvedev, who fouled his forehand right from the start and was actually never in the match.
Sinner, what wins the fifth consecutive direct match with the Russian, now awaits the outcome of the second semi-final: in the title match, scheduled for Sunday, he will face the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov or the German Alex Zverev. 2024 for the South Tyrolean it is a masterpiece so far: third final of the year after those won in Melbourne and Rotterdam, only one defeat suffered in Indian Wells in the semi-final against the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who risks having to soon give up the second place occupied in the ranking behind the Serbian Novak Djokovic.

The words of Jannik Sinner – supertennistv.it
“Today I felt great on the court, usually the more I play in a tournament the more comfortable I feel on the court. I think Daniil wasn't having a great day. He made a lot of mistakes, and that usually doesn't happen. I expected a tough match, I was good at taking advantage of my opportunities. But if he had broken me in the first set or the second, it would have been a different match.”
“I am a different player and person compared to my first final here. I remember the night before that match: I was sweating, I couldn't sleep. Today it's different, I handle situations much better. This is an important tournament, it's always a great experience. I have another great opportunity, I hope to play some good tennis.”
