ROMA – Cna Benessere e Sanità and Confartigianato Benessere presented the joint communication campaign in favor of legality in the hairdressing and beauty sectors to the National Council of Consumers and Users, to the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. In our country, illegal activity in the personal services sector (which includes hairdressing and beauty activities) is continually expanding with an irregularity rate of approximately 27.6%. This is the highest value observed among the various sectors and far exceeds the national average of 14.4% (Istat data).
This phenomenon, already widely rooted and widespread from north to south, has been aggravated by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and by the proliferation of online platforms that operate undisturbed, offering home-based or even mobile services, regardless of the limits imposed by legislation. sector and municipal regulations.
Massimiliano Peri, president of the Wellbeing and Health Union and Tiziana Chiorboli, national president of Confartigianato Benessere, underline that illegal activity in the personal care sectors jeopardizes the health of citizens and also represents a form of unfair competition towards businesses regular and serious damage to their image, as can also be seen from the news spread in recent days by national media outlets on sensational cases of illegal practices by operators unqualified to carry out the aesthetics activity.
The communication campaign is aimed at raising citizens' awareness of the importance of relying exclusively on those who operate legally and highlights the protection of citizens' health which also involves the use of safe and quality services.
The campaign is divided into three communication lines:
-
- those who rely on unqualified operators expose themselves to the risk of damage, sometimes very serious, to hair, skin and nails;
- anyone who uses personal services in their home or in non-compliant premises is exposed to the risks deriving from the lack of the health and hygiene requirements required of regular businesses to guarantee the carrying out of treatments safely;
- those who turn to abusive operators risk receiving (even without their knowledge) treatments that can only be carried out by specialized medical personnel and which can cause damage, even very serious, to their health.
