Biaggi's analysis
Present on the track as an Aprilia ambassador, the six-time world champion Max Biaggi, interviewed by Sky Sport, gave an interpretation of the accident involving Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez in Portugal last Sunday. The Roman explained: “Two great champions are involved, one is even the reigning champion. The idea is that this is definitely a racing accident, what was done was not intentional on either side. We saw it several times that Marquez attempted that overtaking on the left corner – the best ones for him are the ones on the left – and in doing so he surprised Bagnaia”.
At that point the “omelette” was already done: “Bagnaia did well to cross, no one would have done it, but perhaps he didn't expect Marquez to come back so quickly as only he can do. Pecco found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately they both crashed and this is a shame for the ranking, but I would say they have the same responsibility: 50% and 50%.”

Subsequently he also commented on Aprilia's start which was a bit mixed: “Aleix Espargarò started well in Qatar and Maverick Vinales did well in Portimao. The completeness of the team was therefore lacking, but they showed excellent things. The two podiums in the Sprints are two good signs of competitiveness.” Vinales was also close to winning the podium in the GP, but was forced to retire due to a gearbox problem: “Maverick's problem is a bit worrying, we hope to resolve it quickly also to give morale to the Spaniard who had a stellar weekend , as a protagonist”.
