Update Tesla at the bottom of the article
The basic version of the Tesla Model Y costs 47,970 euros, a rear-wheel drive version with about 300 hp, a battery of 57.5 kWh net and a maximum range of 455 km. That is of course a long way from the 40,000 euros to claim the Flemish EV premium of 5,000 euros. Tesla has now officially announced that it is “making its Model Y even more affordable”. With a starting price of 39,990 euros.
being fast is the message
We shouldn't be shy about it, that's a great price for such a Model Y. Even if it's just about the “entry-level”. Although there is also another “but” attached to it. Tesla only applies this price to stock cars, not to brand new ones. Even more striking: although Tesla Belgium officially announced this in a press release, at the time of writing there are barely 2 (!) Model Ys in stock with a price below 40,000 euros.
So it seems that as a customer you will have to continuously keep an eye on Tesla's stock and act quickly. Come on Tesla, completely destroy the competition and also bring the price of new Model Ys below 40,000 euros.
In the meantime, Tesla Belgium has contacted Autofans to emphasize that it is not just “a few copies” from stock. There will be a steady flow of Model Ys from stock with a price of 39,990 euros. As a customer, you have the choice of two colors (Solid Black or Pearl White) and it is always a Standard Range with Autopilot. Tesla cannot make any statements about how many copies are involved. Although that will undoubtedly depend on its success.
