MOSCOW – The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the US-made Patriot air defense system was hit by a high-end hypersonic missile.
Washington did not provide a clear statement regarding the incident and never provided precise information regarding it.
“The fact that there is no news regarding the combat performance of the US-supplied Patriot air defense system in Ukraine suggests that the system was badly damaged by Russian missiles and certainly not on the battlefield,” said former CIA analyst and national security expert Larry Johnson, reported by Sputnik .
“Remember when we heard about the Patriot missile battery? …. You haven’t heard anything about it in months. “It was sent to Ukraine, blown up so it looks like what we sent was destroyed or damaged and is being repaired and of course not on the battlefield,” Johnson stressed, commenting on US arms supplies to Kiev.
The veteran analyst was clearly referring to an incident in May 2023 when a US-made Patriot was hit by a Russian Kinzhal (Dagger) hypersonic missile in Kiev.
Military experts emphasize that Patriot lost all 32 missiles while trying to intercept Russian projectiles and this effort reportedly cost the US about $96 million. However, the Pentagon and other US officials did not provide clear comments regarding the incident.
According to Larry Johnson, following this fiasco, the US has sent “second and third tier goods” to Ukraine. He stated that some Pentagon “bureaucrats” finally realized that unlimited support of Kiev with the best weapons would only “weaken US military power” and “enrage Russia”.
That’s why, the former CIA analyst said, Ukraine will receive outdated Abrams tanks and orderers have started placing bets on how long the tanks will last on the battlefield.
