After a long wait, tomorrow Prime Video Spain premieres in its catalog The Continental, the John Wick spin-off series whose plot takes place before the events of the films directed by Chad Stahelski.
Starring Colin Woodell y Mel Gibsonthe plot of The Continental revolves around a young Winston Scott before he becomes the manager of the famous assassin’s hotel.
Set in the 70s, the series shows Winston being forced to take up arms against threats he thought lost in the past when a mafia boss from his previous life named Cormac tracks him down and forces him to go to New York on a quest to find his brother, Frankie.
The John Wick director’s advice for The Continental
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Albert Hughesdirector of The Continental, has revealed the advice that Chad Stahelski gave him when approaching the John Wick prequel series that we will see in Prime Video.
“We did a Zoom and (Stahelski) was excited to talk and tell me (that) basically did whatever he had to do and whatever inspired him. “I was glad he said that because I don’t think I would ever want to step into any man or woman’s sandbox and duplicate what they do,” the director explains.
It seems Hughes took Stahelski’s advice to heart, as it was previously confirmed that The Continental is different from the big screen entries in the John Wick franchise in several ways.

These differences include the series’ approach to fight scenes, as according to Hughes the fights in The Continental they are going to be much shorter than fans are used to.
“I come from the school of Sergio Leone movie lovers, where it’s all about tension, build-up and the quick release of violence. I needed to find a middle ground,” says Hughes.
With a total of three episodes, The Continental premieres in the Prime Video catalog tomorrow, September 22, 2023, although the first evaluations are not very promising. Are you looking forward to watching the John Wick prequel series?
