It has been several years since the sequel trilogy that formed Episodes VII, VIII and IX of Star Wars ended and although they were accompanied by more than one controversy and even a somewhat divided reception among fans, They served to further extend their own universe with new characters, new stories and, perhaps most importantly, learn more about what happened to beloved characters like Luke, Han and Leia after what happened in Return of the Jedi.
Something that many fans of the franchise created by George Lucas remember with special affection are the official posters that accompanied the first 6 films, with a marked aesthetic that changed radically after The Force Awakens, the first Star Wars film made by Disney and which brought with it such large modifications that an American painter who is a fan of the franchise has decided to solve it on his own by making 3 incredible new posters with the classic aesthetic of the posters from the first installments.
Some posters that remind us of the great work that Drew Struzan did in the past
Ethan Pro is the talented artist who has shared the world and the Star Wars community 3 new posters dedicated to the films that made up the most recent trilogy completely hand painted by himself:
It is obvious that Ethan Pro has made with these new posters a great tribute to the work of Drew Struzan, Painter of several of the most famous posters in film history, including those for John Carpenter’s The Thing, The Goonies, and several of the main episodes of Star Wars.
The obvious similarity to Struzan’s work has been intentional, since Ethan Pro has stated that in his opinion the official posters for The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker were too different from those of the rest of the main episodes. In fact, by making these 3 posters this artist ensures that He has done something very special and of vital importance to him.
Ethan Pro has also revealed that another of his intentions was form a striking triptych when he grouped in order the 3 posters that he painted on canvas, once again trying to emulate the marked essence that the posters of the first 6 episodes had. On his Instagram you can find other great illustrations of film classics like Terminator or Indiana Jones.
Although the saga has taken a break from the world of cinema after Episode IX, the franchise is still very much alive commercially with several projects in the form of series on the horizon and with works that have received great acceptance among the public and critics as happened with the first seasons of The Mandalorian or the recently released Ahsoka miniseries, starring Rosario Dawson.
