Sony has announced that Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, will officially arrive on PC in 2024.
This port will be available as a complete edition package that will include both Horizon Forbidden West and its Burning Shores expansion, along with several extras. Ahead of its release on PC, PS5 owners will be able to purchase Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition on October 5.
The story of Forbidden West takes place shortly after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn and its Frozen Wilds expansion. In this new installment, the protagonist Aloy faces more dangerous enemies as she explores a new frontier in an attempt to save the planet’s biosphere from a strange plague that affects both living beings and robotic organisms. The Burning Shores expansion expands this story with new factions, an adventure set in the ruins of Los Angeles, and even a romance for Aloy.
Sony has stated that it expects to make $450 million in revenue from PC games through March 2024, and the release of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition could help reach that figure.
As for the future of the franchise, fans can expect a lot of Horizon content. Guerrilla confirmed in April that a Horizon Forbidden West sequel is in development, and several transmedia projects, such as a possible Horizon Zero Dawn remaster for PS5, a Netflix TV series adaptation, and an MMO spin-off, will expand the franchise.
