The remake of Resident Evil 4 will finally receive the long-awaited Separate Ways mode, a debt that Capcom had with the fans since it is a missing piece because for more than 10 years it is impossible to understand this installment without knowing the events of the path it followed one of his characters and the way he influenced the development of the story. A few days after its debut, we already saw it in action and we tell you the 4 details that will blow your mind. But first, let’s answer a question:

WHAT IS SEPARATE WAYS?
Separate Ways is a game mode that debuted in the original version of Resident Evil 4 for PlayStation 2 in 2005 and was later continued in all re-releases. In it we take the role of Ada Wong, the mysterious agent who always appears in Leon S. Kennedy’s path, following the route and events that she experienced in the mysterious and terrifying Spanish villa.
As the name of the mode indicates, while Leon followed one path, Ada went another, and now we will know what happened before and after all the times they both met, although there will also be some surprises.
Originally, Separate Ways was included in Resident Evil 4 and all you had to do was finish the game to enable it. Now, you will have to pay $9.99 USD to live this experience that, although short, shows quality everywhere, like in these 4 amazing details.
The Amber has been located, but to what lengths will Ada go to complete her mission?

1.- THE DIVERSITY OF GAME STYLES
Our first look at the Separate Ways mode in Resident Evil 4 showed us that there is variety when it comes to the gaming experience. Ada is an agent who operates in the shadows and that means that she can use stealth to avoid unnecessary confrontations, so it will be enough to silently stalk the distracted enemy to kill him and have one less problem.
“Separate Ways is intended as a challenge focused on combat and the skills of the player who has already learned what is necessary with the base game. Think of it as an evolution of what you enjoyed controlling Hunk in Resident Evil 2”
At the same time, there are times when combat is inevitable, so everything will be action. The best thing is that Ada Wong is an expert in firearms but also in hand-to-hand attacks, so you can execute a variety of combos to finish in a spectacular and fun way with those you win and any enemy that stands in front of you. Likewise, you will be able to interact in different ways with the scenarios to break the linearity of combat and add elements in your favor.
Ada Wong, what a pleasure to see you back as the protagonist in Resident Evil 4
Our undercover agent can’t carry an entire arsenal, like Leon, but there will be an opportunity to expand your weapon options. Separate Ways is intended as a challenge focused on combat and the skills of the player who has already learned what is necessary with the base game. Think of it as an evolution of what you enjoyed controlling Hunk in Resident Evil 2.
Basically, this mode will give you stealth options, action-packed confrontations, and some strategy using your environment, thanks to a small but essential accessory.
2.- ADA WONG’S RETRACTABLE HOOK IS USED FOR MORE
Like any undercover agent who may need to flee immediately, Ada Wong has a retractable hook. Although this comes from the original version where its use was limited to access certain places, in this remake of Separate Ways the number of spaces that can be reached was expanded. Better yet, its use has extended into combat, so you can perform devastating attacks that include gunshots, extra damage, and zoom in with the retractable hook, and finish with a spectacular punch or kick move.
“…you can perform devastating attacks that include gunshots, additional damage, and zoom in with the retractable hook, and finish with a spectacular punch or kick move”
Now, the use of the retractable hook is not free, because – as you know – in Resident Evil 4 the interaction with scenarios and enemies is also contextual, so the game itself will indicate the time and place in which you can use it. From the looks of it, the experience will be very dynamic, so pay attention to your surroundings and your attacks.
3.- BATTLES AGAINST BOSSES THAT WILL BE SPECTACULAR
Although Separate Ways is a short game mode compared to everything Leon experiences in Resident Evil 4, it is spectacular; Proof of this are the battles against some bosses that retain the action and quality of the remake. Don’t you believe us? Just see what you can do when you face The Giant, where you can shine thanks to the skills of Ada Wong in a colorful and fun duel, but above all, memorable, because beyond addressing the separate paths from the perspective of this iconic agent, the goal is for you to have an incredible time with the design, mechanics and control.
A new match against El Gigante awaits you
4.- THE SECRETS OF RESIDENT EVIL 4
During your experience with Resident Evil 4 there are events and situations that lead you to question how or why they happened. Just as in its original version, Separate Ways becomes that piece that completes the game’s story, highlighting the role of Ada Wong and even Luis Sera in this terrifying adventure. In this mode you will visit some new or different areas because Leon has already been there or hasn’t done so yet, while everything will make sense every time you cross his paths. In short, you will learn much more about the nightmare that the heroic Raccoon City police officer lived in this European village.
The preview showed us that Separate Ways received the same remake treatment as Resident Evil 4 and we can say that this missing piece is ready to surprise us again when it debuts on September 21. Get ready to take control of Ada Wong and return to one of the best video games of this year.
