For a few days now we have been reporting the performance of Mortal Kombat 1 on the Nintendo Switch which has a value of 70 dollars in the Nintendo Store, a version that, as expected, running on more obsolete hardware, is less than that of the PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, but at a similar value. Something that has been on everyone’s lips since its launch on September 14 and that is now confirmed by a couple of media outlets with their reviews on Metacritic, which give it a terrible score of 30 or 40 out of 100.
Notes that align with what some fans had previously indicated, saying that they were playing MK1 on their Nintendo Switch and that “the resolution, especially of the scenarios, is very low and it takes almost a minute to load the first combat (a From there it’s a little faster) and from time to time the game stutters.” Details about the performance that had also been mentioned in a video where they compare the version of the Nintendo portable console, with that of Steam Deck, Xbox Series S and PS5, which makes it clear that it is far below those versions.

When entering the reviews of Mortal Kombat 1 for Nintendo Switch published on Metacritic, we can see that there are only two, but that they immediately reflect the gaming experience on that console. According to Nintendo Life, Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch “has FPS issues, large resolution drops, input and sync issues related to performance drops, missing content, game-breaking bugs in Invasion mode, long loading times, and “unresponsive menus,” giving it a 40-point rating.
“If you’re a big Mortal Kombat fan whose only option is the Switch, you might be able to go ahead with all of this. However, if you have any other option, we suggest that you stay away from this one for now,” they conclude.
A thought they share on IGN, being even more direct, giving it a score of 30 and saying that “Mortal Kombat 1 proves to be too much for the Switch’s dated hardware. Loading times are atrocious, there are numerous bugs affecting both graphics and gameplay, making it a poor quality version of a great game that is irritating to play.”
Gaming experiences radically opposite to those of the versions on other platforms, where the game is being praised by fans and the media, having an average of 88 on PC, 86 on PS5 and 87 on Xbox Series The famous creator of the game and the franchise, Ed Boon, has promised a fix, saying in an interview that: “The Switch version will definitely receive an update. And many of the concerns that were raised will certainly be addressed.”
