Although the IJssel looks cleaner than a few decades ago, pollution from, for example, medicine residues, microplastics, chemicals, pesticides and PFAS is still increasing. If nothing is done, this invisible pollution will continue to increase. The rowers want the river to be plastic-free by 2030.
