The expansion Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak by Capcom won first prize ai Japan Game Awards 2023 held today. The expansion, first released for PC e Nintendo Switch last year and ported to other consoles earlier this year, won the Grand Award during the ceremony, organized every year by Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) of Japan and partially voted by the public. Nintendo’s Family Computer (also known as Famicomo NES in the West) received the award as The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Awardwhich is awarded to an individual or organization that has made great contributions to the growth of the Japanese gaming industry. Famicom celebrated this year its 40th anniversary and Takashi Tezukaexecutive director of Nintendo and designer of Super Mario Bros., accepted the award on behalf of Nintendo. Tezuka thanked CESA for the award and said that Nintendo alone should not accept it, but rather all companies that created classic games for the Famicom should. 11 games received a Award for Excellenceamong which God of War RagnarökHogwarts Legacy, Pokémon Scarlet e Violet, Resident Evil 4, Sonic Frontiers e Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Il Game Designers Awardchosen by a jury of nine Japanese creators, including the designer of Smash Bros.
