Will they make a new installment about Bumblebee? Actress Hailee Steinfeld has an answer to this that seems definitive.
Fans of the Bumblebee movie have been eagerly awaiting news about a possible sequel since the hit movie was released in 2018. Although there have been some signs that there could be a sequel, there has been no official confirmation so far. Actress Hailee Steinfeld, who played protagonist Charlie Watson, recently shared her thoughts on the possibility of a sequel in an interview with THR.
Hailee Steinfeld, who is also known for her roles in True Grit, Edge of Seventeen, Hawkeye and Dickinson, talked about the Transformers franchise and Bumblebee while promoting her involvement in the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse , in which she reprises her role as Gwen Stacy.
These are his words.
When Hailee Steinfeld was asked if she was surprised that a direct sequel to Bumblebee wasn’t made, even though it was the best-reviewed film in the Transformers franchise, she responded, “Not necessarily. I don’t know if I knew the plans beyond that, but I like to take everything step by step. I’ve gotten a lot better at that in my life. “I tend to get ahead of myself, and when it comes to bigger projects that have whispers and more of a future and all that, I like to focus on what’s in front of me and do the best I can.”
Hailee Steinfeld y Bumblebee
It’s important to remember that shortly after the release of Bumblebee, director Travis Knight shared that he had ideas for a sequel if given the chance to make one. Additionally, Hailee Steinfeld expressed her interest in returning for another film in previous interviews, noting that the character of Charlie Watson had much more to explore and learn.
Despite these expressions of interest and the positive reception of the original film, Paramount Pictures opted to resume the saga with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, set in 1994, rather than continue Bumblebee’s story. Therefore, it seems that the possibility of a sequel is increasingly uncertain.
However, this doesn’t mean we can’t see Hailee Steinfeld playing Charlie Watson again in the future. If the next live-action film in the franchise takes place after The Beasts Awakens but before 2007’s Transformers, it could provide the opportunity to explore Charlie’s future at a later point in her life. Although for now, it seems that the actress and singer is focused on enjoying the present and giving her best in each project she tackles.
