Fitbit’s Charge line of activity trackers has been around for almost a decade. During all this time we have witnessed the product evolutionwhich has gone from being a modest heart rate monitor with a monochrome screen to a premium design device with increasingly ambitious functions.
The most notable change possibly materialized with the Fitbit Charge 5, a proposal that arrived in August 2021 with the company already under Google’s orbit. More than two years have passed since then and Fitbit has decided to once again update its precious line. It’s time to say ‘hello’ to the Fitbit Charge 6.

An activity bracelet that aims to be much more
The company presents its new product as its “most capable activity bracelet yet.” It is an iteration that seeks to conquer people who do sports thanks to a more precise measurement system. In addition, it launches music and geolocation functions, but keeps the design that we already knew almost intact.
Let’s start with the latter. On a visual level, we do not find major changes compared to the previous generation. Those premium lines that invited us to immerse ourselves in a proposal that combines the sporty with the elegant, are still present, but, yes, the side button that they had eliminated returns.
The case, Fitbit notes, is made of 14% recycled aluminum and the Super AMOLED touch screen has Gorilla Glass scratch protection. At the color level, these are still Obsidian, Porcelain and Coral, options that we can combine by purchasing straps of different styles. More elegant or, on the contrary, more sporty.
If we talk about sports, the essence of this type of bracelet, we can highlight that the heart rate monitoring system has been improved. The firm assures that it is the most precise of them so far. To achieve this they have taken a machine learning algorithm present in the Pixel Watch.
This improvement, they point out, has a wide scope. Users should see more accurate data on calorie burn, active zone minutes, recovery level, and sleep score. Furthermore, thanks to the ECG appwe can continue to monitor our heart rate and receive notification in case of irregular heart rate.
The Fitbit Charge 6 also promises to be a good ally for the gym. We can connect it via Bluetooth with compatible exercise machines. Brands such as NordicTrack, Peloton, Concept2 and Tonal are mentioned. Also with fitness apps for iOS and Android devices, such as the Peloton application.
Speaking of sensors, the EDA scanner incorporated two years ago remains, as well as the possibility of measuring the oxygen saturation. From the Fitbit app we can define training objectives and consult the most important metrics. If we need to recover, we can wait a day without damaging the data.
As for other functionalities, the bracelet will give us the possibility of using Google Play in the available markets and consulting Google Maps directions directly from the wrist, and we can also use the YouTube Music controls to start, pause or skip songs. All this while taking advantage of some of the 40 exercise modes.
Price and availability of the new Fitbit Charge 6
The new Fitbit Charge 6 has a price of 159.95 euros. As we say, we can choose between the colors Obsidian, Porcelain and Coral. Pre-orders are now enabled on Fitbit.com and the Google Store. Of course, we will have to wait until fall for its availability.
