PlayStation, like any other entertainment company, usually makes hundreds of alliances to capitalize on the love that fans have for their franchises. Thanks to this, it is possible to see all kinds of collectible merchandise. Unfortunately, one of their longest-running alliances has just come to an end and on such bad terms that consumers have been the most affected.
The collaborating company in question is Gaming Heads, specialized in the production of figures, statues or busts of characters from the world of entertainment. This company had been working with Sony for 10 years, but unfortunately the collaboration came to an end.
This week the collectibles company shared an open letter expressing concern over Sony’s request to “destroy” all merchandise related to the Sony PlayStation brand, including figures in stock, figures in production, and products that are ready to ship. and for which consumers have already paid.
The open letter includes images of some of the figures that have not yet debuted or have a pending release, among which a bust of Kratos (God of War Ragnarök) and a diorama of Ellie and Joel (The Last of Us) stand out.

Why is Sony demanding the destruction of PlayStation collectibles?
The reason why Sony is calling for the destruction of the PlayStation products that Gaming Heads produced or has in production is unknown, as the company does not reveal it in its message.
The open letter reveals dismay and some anger at Gaming Heads and explicitly asks consumers to redirect their complaints and doubts about what will happen to the products they have already paid for from Sony. In fact, he shared the business email of Judy Ward, responsible for Sony’s commercial alliances.

The affected consumer community took this negatively, since they point out that, although it is unpleasant that Sony asks for the destruction of the figures, they made the purchase directly with Gaming Heads, so the latter company should respond to the concerns and take action. charge for pre-order cancellations, payments or possible refunds, and not Sony.
According to Gaming Heads, Sony has received all royalties for every order that consumers placed for the figures that must be destroyed.
