The new version of Fico is ready, but will it be a reheated soup? It’s called ‘Grand Tour Italia’, a trip to the regions. A lot of marketing and little substance.
A few hours ago among the super-cazzole, salami and slurring of the listeners, the national Oscar throws it there on Alessandro Milan’s program on Radio 24: “Among the things that didn’t go down well with me, let’s say that Fico is one of these, which, by the way, to me continues to please me to death every time I go there”
So what?
“Fico must be reviewed… Fico will close at the end of December”.
We’ve reached the first turning point but it’s not over.
Fico di Farinetti, owner of Eataly, is closing. Now he writes books and with a face like bronze after a flop on a global scale, he even dispenses advice on how to face the future. And there are those who even invite him on the radio to tell the happy news of a new opportunity, better than the one before. Come on gentlemen, there’s room for everyone, come on in. It’s not enough to lower the shutters and move on. Oh no, because he gambled with the money of many and not just his own and even though he made the rounds of every media to tell his recipes as a “smart” entrepreneur, someone didn’t believe him and now it’s our Oscar’s turn go to the comeback, with other little stories and formulas because food Disneyland still has full shelves and bills to pay.
And here’s the problem: ex-communists like the “cucumber”, but not everyone, party or not party that creates mega-consortiums around failed projects.
“Where it is grown and produced”, said the advert which in 2017 announced the birth of Fico, the largest agri-food theme park in the world. The “world Disneyland of food”, wanted by Oscar Farinetti in Bologna, in the mecca of the Coops, partners of the project together with the Municipality which sold 55 million in properties of a subsidiary, and which “opened the doors” to millions of private individuals, including local newspapers and the doctors’ social security funds, Enpam, the funds of veterinarians, agronomists, lawyers, engineers and architects, industrial experts, agricultural and agrotechnical experts, and all enthusiastic and now left at a standstill.
For now, tens of millions wasted, both public and private, useless investments, millions of never-seen promised visitors from all over the world and the creation of thousands of unfulfilled stable jobs weigh heavily. But how cool is that one! The right idea with a bit of cunning to be successful, as our Oscar repeated on every national TV that wasn’t even interested in understanding what was at stake.
And Aladdin’s lamp was not needed to imagine what could happen to a mega-supermarket with luxury prices, a few kilometers from others, what he wanted to do organic or high quality one and a half kilometers from one of the largest and most polluting incinerators of Emilia Romagna, with very few means of public connection and almost no appeal on the products offered that could be found elsewhere.
We have been explaining for years why the numbers and strategies of this Americana were not standing up even by hypnotizing the former communists.
But who knows where the top fans will have ended up.
