BAGHDAD – A large fire at a wedding celebration killed more than 100 people and injured at least 150 in Nineveh Province, Iraq.
The fire on Tuesday night (26/9/2023) is believed to have been caused by fireworks.

1. The Wedding Takes Place at the Wedding Party
According to Al Jazeera, a fire broke out at a wedding party in an event hall in Nineveh Province, northern Iraq.
The fire broke out at around 22:45 local time on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people were killed or injured, and the injured were hospitalized across the country.
Iraqi authorities have ordered an investigation into the fire.
2. Location of fire in a city with a majority Christian population
The fire broke out in the al-Haitham Hall in the city of Hamdaniyah.
The predominantly Christian area is outside Mosul, about 335 km northwest of Baghdad.
3. The death toll reached more than 100 people
