The fire brigade was responded to a waste container fire at the Oosterpoort in Steenwijk this afternoon. But the fire brigade did not have much work to put out the fire, because the police were attentive enough to do the preliminary work. An officer arrived on scene earlier and extinguished the fire with a hand extinguisher. The fire brigade continued to extinguish the fire to prevent the fire from flaring up again. It is suspected that fireworks were thrown into the container, after which the contents caught fire.
