Xbox has just revealed its plans to celebrate Pride Month and show its unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community. The company made several announcements in this regard and one of the most prominent has to do with upcoming titles from Xbox Game Studios Publishing, the distribution branch.
Xbox promised that it will offer more LGBTQIA+ stories and representation in games from partner studios. It will also partner with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), a non-profit organization that will support developers who are part of the community.

Xbox demonstrates its support for the LGBTQIA+ community
Xbox explained that representation of the LGBTQIA+ community is very important, so it hopes to contribute to the cause through its games. The company noted that there is a need for more diverse stories, as discrimination and hostile environments for LGBTQIA+ people still exist.
“Xbox Game Studios Publishing announces a long-term partnership with GLAAD to support our LGBTQIA+ team members (…) Through this partnership, we hope to bring more LGBTQIA+ stories, characters, and lived experiences to Xbox in ways that resonate with gamers. around the world,” the company said.
From Xbox’s perspective, video games are a great medium for “telling diverse and representative stories” as well as providing “spaces where players can experiment and explore identities in an affirming and supportive environment.”
GLAAD will help Xbox partner studios create titles that offer “visibility, understanding and support” to members of the community. It is not the first time that the organization has worked with Xbox, since one of its first projects was Tell Me Why, a Dontnod Entertainment title distributed by Xbox Game Studios Publishing.
