Last year was great for Final Fantasy fans, as Square Enix finally decided to talk about the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, the improved version of the 1997 classic that would be released in parts. The Japanese company seems to be ready to talk more about the project and today it just confirmed something that Midgar lovers will like.
However, almost 1 year has passed since Square Enix first talked about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and until now it is not known what day it will debut beyond the “winter” window of 2023.
In an unconventional way, Square Enix is taking advantage of the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XVI to offer news about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in the form of questions and answers with text images on Twitter. Yes, in a strange way, but in the end they clear up the doubts of the fans.

Will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth be open world?
Just as Square Enix revealed that the game’s development is ongoing, this weekend the company talked more about what will be seen in the game itself, precisely Midgar.
With the changes that Final Fantasy VII Remake brought, Square Enix imagines that fans have doubts about what the second part will be like in terms of their world and their exploration, so they took the opportunity to explain that “they will be able to travel through the wide and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom,” according to director Naoki Yamaguchi.
In case you missed it: Will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth change the endearing original story?
Square Enix did not dare to confirm if Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be open world or will have open areas like Sonic Frontiers or Monster Hunter Rise, but it is clear that it will be very different from the original and that players will have a lot to do, because they also it was anticipated that there will be “a myriad of different stories”, perhaps referring to the side quests and tasks for the protagonists.
We remind you that Square Enix prepared an event dedicated to Final Fantasy VII, which it held in June 2022. So far the company has not yet announced any event for 2023, but it is not ruled out that it will do so within a few days of it happening (as last year). However, there is also a chance that it will appear at Summer Game Fest 2023.
Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
