Washington Criticizes North Korea’s Satellite Launch Failure, Kim Jong-un’s Sister: US is Hypocritical! PHOTO/Reuters
SEOUL – Leader’s sister North Korea (North Korea) Kim Jong-un on Thursday (1/6/2023) accused United States of America (US) was hypocritical and “gangster-like” for criticizing the launch failure satellite North Korean military spy. He also insisted that a successful launch would take place soon.
As reported by AP, Kim Yo Jong said North Korea’s efforts to acquire space-based reconnaissance capabilities are a legitimate exercise of its sovereign rights. He also reiterated the country’s rejection of UN Security Council resolutions barring it from carrying out any launch involving ballistic missile technology.
His comments in state media came a day after the rocket carrying the satellite failed. North Korea said the rocket lost thrust after a stage separation and crashed in waters off the west coast of the Korean Peninsula.
Washington, South Korea and Japan were quick to criticize the launch. Adam Hodge, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, said Washington strongly condemned North Korea’s launch because it used banned ballistic missile technology. The US also considered that the launch increased tensions and risked disrupting security stability in the region and its surroundings.
In her statement, Yo Jong briefly mentioned Hodge’s comments, before saying that the US was “letting go of the outdated nonsense fueled by its wild and abnormal thinking”.
“If the DPRK’s satellite launch is specifically criticized, the US and all other countries, which have launched thousands of satellites, must be criticized. This is nothing but self-contradictory sophism,” said Yo Jong.
He noted how the US closely monitors North Korea through its own reconnaissance satellites and other aerial assets. Yo Jong called the US a “gangster group” who would consider it “illegal and threatening” if North Korea tried to send a satellite into space.
“The absurd logic that only the DPRK should not do so in accordance with the (UN Security Council) ‘resolutions’ prohibiting the use of ballistic rocket technology regardless of its purpose, even if other countries do so, is clearly gangster-like and wrong as it seriously violates the DPRK’s right to using space and illegally oppressing him,” continued Yo Jong.
“Surely the DPRK military reconnaissance satellite will be properly placed in space orbit in the near future and start its mission,” he added.
