It doesn’t matter if you are a veteran or new to Diablo IV. If you want to have an ultra-powerful character capable of defeating all the bastards that come your way (regardless of class), then listen up. the menu of Options > Game It has two sections that you must activate to have all the information possible about the pieces that come out.
Advanced Description Matching: allows you to see all the properties of the items you compare from your inventory with your current equipment. It not only shows you everything you gain by equipping it, but also everything you will lose. Gem sockets, special abilities and more are included.
Advanced description information: Displays additional information for all objects. These sections are essential to elaborate specific character constructions and in many occasions they make the difference when choosing one piece over another. It is not possible to create a good character without this option.

The main difference are green and red numbers and letters. Roughly speaking, the green numbers indicate the benefits you get from each specific section and the red numbers all the sections you lose when exchanging the item. Knowing this, you can more easily discern if all the gains from the new piece outweigh the losses from the current one.
It’s not something you need at the beginning of the game, but it will become one of the tools you will use the most during the endgame… especially if you aspire to build a specialized and very powerful character. In any case, you already know where to find the options and why they are important.
