The third season of The Witcher will soon be released, which will follow the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, Ciri and Yennefer.
Netflix recently published the trailer for The Witcher 3 and we have been able to see a small preview of everything they have prepared. But we know that this new season will follow the events of the Time of Contempt novel, although the creators of the series have already revealed that there will be significant changes. Even so, it is interesting to know that it is everything that happens in the book.
That’s right Time of Contempt is the second novel in The Witcher series written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The story continues the adventures of the sorcerer Geralt de Rivia in a world full of monsters, magic and political conflicts. The novel begins with the protagonist and his companion, the bard Dandelion, attending a meeting in the kingdom of Cintra. There, Geralt meets his former love, the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, and the young princess Ciri, whom he considers to be his ward. Ciri, endowed with magical powers and known as “the Child of Prophecy”, is persecuted by the mysterious Lodge of Sorceresses, as well as by others interested in her lineage.

As the story progresses, a war develops between the northern kingdoms and the Nilfgaard Empire. Powerful wizards and sorceresses become embroiled in politics and the struggle for power. Geralt is forced to take sides in the middle of this war, trying to protect Ciri and keep her safe from those who wish to control her destiny.
Meanwhile, Geralt learns that there is a group of assassins called the Rats who are hired to kill the witches. Also, a mysterious figure known as Vilgefortz is revealed to be one of the main antagonists of this Witcher novel, as he wants to control Ciri for her own purposes.
Geralt also meets other important characters in this installment, such as Triss Merigold, a sorceress friend and ally, as well as other warlocks such as Lambert, Eskel and Vesemir. Together, they face numerous dangers, including monsters and political conspiracies.
Throughout The Witcher novel, themes such as identity, destiny, and loyalty are explored. Geralt finds himself in a difficult position, having to make decisions he doesn’t like and face the consequences of his actions. Geralt and Yennefer’s relationship is put to the test as they must deal with their own desires and obligations.

The plot culminates in a violent confrontation on the island of Thanedd, where the conflicting forces gather for a grand meeting. Geralt and his allies find themselves caught up in a chaotic battle as they seek to protect Ciri and confront his enemies.
Time of Contempt is a novel full of action, intrigue, and exciting moments. The world created by Sapkowski becomes more complex as the threads of the plot become intertwined. The novel sets the stage for the events that will unfold in the following installments of the series, leaving readers eager to find out what will happen next.
