Security is very important, and that is why more and more companies are opting for guards who can control their own establishments, but also the streets, to make the entire environment safe.
Due to a lack of manpower, a security company in Switzerland has come up with the idea of creating a robot that can replace or complement security guards when necessary.
However, the Swiss are already seeing a robot autonomous on two wheels and acting as a security guard.
This patrol robot has been created by the company Ascento and acts as a security guard for the Swiss firm Securitas AG.
They say their robot provides an extra layer of security and improves operational efficiency at various sites, and one of those areas where it has been tested with some success is at the Swiss railway depot.
Its thermal camera is capable of detecting people and vehicles
It has wheels as feet and the computer is housed in its head, as well as the battery, the sensors and a cloud-based artificial intelligence.
“It can go on level ground, it can go over obstacles, it can even go up a step or two, and that’s because we use wheels and legs,” he says. Alessandro MoraCEO and founder of Ascento.
On the other hand, its thermal camera is capable of detecting people and vehicles, its 360° camera captures images of the environment, and it can communicate via live transmission with a backup operator who is located in the control center.
They comment that a single security guard would be able to monitor all these robots, and thus cover an entire area such as a factory or an industrial estate.
“We chose to bet on the security market because this is a place where it’s really hard to find people today. They have to work long hours and have to work in all weather conditions. We did this work ourselves and it’s really brutal,” she adds.
“We wanted to help, and our robots can make the life of these guards much easier,” he says.
To be more accessible all these robots Security companies will even be allowed to rent by the hour to complement the team of human guards that the corresponding company has.
