The Mexican Stock Market (BMV) advanced this Friday a 0.96% in its main indicator, until reaching 53 thousand 232.71 unitsto break a streak of three sessions closing in red, although it was insufficient to close the week with a setback of 1.47%.
For the Mexican stock market it was its third consecutive week closing with losses, something not seen since December of the previous year.
The Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the main indicator of the BMV, “recorded a fall of 1.47% in the week, marking its third consecutive week of losses”, explained the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.
The expert recalled that “The last time 3 consecutive weeks of losses had been observed was in December 2022.”
He pointed out that of the 36 main broadcasters that make up the index, only 14 showed gains, standing out among them Grupo Carso (+7.89%), Vesta (+3.83%), Volaris (+3.65%) and Femsa (+3.25%).
In addition, he pointed out that two events of private issuers stood out in the week: on Tuesday the shares of the issuer Controladora Axtel began to be listed individually, which are practically the shares of Axtel that Alfa previously controlled.
Meanwhile, it was announced that Grupo México would be receiving an 8-year extension in a concession in exchange for the delivery of the section of railways on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec that were occupied by the Secretary of the Navy on May 19 after an occupation decree. temporary for reasons of public interest.
Nevertheless, Siller said, Grupo México ended the week with a loss of 0.35%.
With the advance of this day, the IPC registers a gain of 9.84% so far this year and is located at -6.71% from its all-time high of 56 thousand 536.68 pointsreached the April 1, 2022.
During the session, the peso did not register a percentage change against the dollar, after trading on 17.55 units per ticket green, the same value as in the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session in 53 thousand 232.71 unitswith a profit of 508.68 points and a positive variation of the 0.96% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded in the market reached 261 million titles for an amount of 17,976 million pesos.
Of the 529 firms that listed on the day, 346 ended with their prices rising, 166 had losses and 17 closed without changes.
The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the telecommunications services firm Axtel in its series Controladora Axtel (CTAXTEL), with 13.33% y Axtel (AXTEL CPO), with 9.13%and the garbage collection company Promotora Ambiental (PASS B), with 8.33%.
In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the Hoteles City Express chain (HCITY), with -4.51%; the wood and paper products company TEAK (TEAK CPO), con el -3.79%and financial services firm Banco Regional (RA), with -2.61%.
During the day, the four sectors advanced, beginning with the materials (1.35%), followed by industrial (1.35%), frequent consumption (0.73%) and financial (0.57%).
