The longest walking route in the Netherlands, the Pieterpad, has existed for 40 years

On June 4, 1983, the longest hiking trail in the Netherlands was opened. It was an initiative of the two ladies, who thought that the Netherlands could use a serious long-distance path. They were inspired by a hiking trip in Germany’s Black Forest and wanted to create something similar in the Netherlands.
