Microids has announced that it has signed an agreement with What the Prod for the realization of an animated series set in the fictional universe of Syberia.
“The iconic Syberia universe has achieved legendary status since the first episode released over two decades ago,” reads the official statement. “Thanks to an exciting story, emblematic characters and a unique atmosphere, Syberia has been able to seduce all adventure lovers. With the arrival of the new animated series, fans will be able to dive even deeper into this universe. They will be reunited with Kate Walker, Oscar, the Youkols and many other fascinating characters who share their adventures between the real world and the fantasies of Benoit Sokal.”
The agreement signed between Microids and What the Prod it also received approval from Martine Sokal, widow of the late Benoit: “My husband would have been thrilled to see his work adapted as an animated series,” said Martine Sokal. “With Syberia he created a magical and timeless world. I’m happy that with this adaptation he will be able to reach a new audience.”
The details end here for now, but Microids assures that they will work closely with What the Prod for the Syberia animated series to do justice to the source material.
