Today was a difficult day for you
I’m really sorry for how the whole weekend went. Yesterday we were fighting for the podium but I was struggling a lot with the front and as soon as I forced it a little I crashed. We are not in good shape yet in terms of set up. We are improving a lot, but we are not there yet.
What can you tell us about the penalty they inflicted on you in the Superpole Race?
When Lowes does these things, just to name no names, nothing happens, while in my case they immediately gave me a penalty, ruining the whole race. I tried to recover and at the oak there was the incident with Iker. He went a little wide, I tried inside, he closed and we hit the ground. I was very hurt and I have a big hematoma at the height of the femur. I’m very sorry for Lecuona and for how the weekend ended, but unfortunately I can’t pass with this bike and I’m always at the limit. The positive side is that now I can set my own times, and we have taken a step forward in terms of grip. Here at Misano I would have liked to give the team and my fans a podium, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible.
What did you say to Iannone?
I was glad I reviewed it. We talked a lot and I told him that he has to go back to racing and that he has to come to Superbike. I don’t know what he will decide to do, but he certainly wants to go back to motorcycle racing.
