HONG KONG – Police Hong Kong arrest an accused woman killed his three daughters who are still small on Monday (5/6/2023). It was a shocking case for many in the city, where violent crime is rare.
The three girls, aged 2, 4 and 5, did not react when officers arrived at their apartment after receiving calls from the women. Initially, the woman told police that they had been killed by her husband, police said.
“The woman and her husband have been separated for about a year, and we believe the woman is guilty of the murder,” Superintendent of Police Alan Chung said, as quoted by AP.
The poor children were declared dead at the hospital. Chung said no injuries were found on their bodies and no sharp objects or drugs were found at the scene.
“Found pillows covered in blood and possibly used to lubricate children. The investigation showed that the case was related to a family relationship issue,” Chung said. “This is a very serious case of family violence,” he continued.
The women and girls lived in a small apartment in Sham Shui Po, one of the poorest districts in the financial centre. “The woman appeared normal when the police arrived at the apartment and there was no evidence that she had bad relations with the girls,” Chung said.
Monday’s case is the second in three days involving a murder that shocked many Hong Kongers. Last Friday, a man fatally stabbed two women in a shopping center in a seemingly random attack.
Initial investigations found no evidence of a link between the suspects and the victims, police said. A local court on Monday ordered a psychiatric examination for the suspect, according to the South China Morning Post.
