Karen Armstrong was born on November 14, 1944 in Wildmoor, Worcestershire, England. He is of Irish descent who moved around, after his birth he moved from Bromsgrove and then to Birmingham.
In 1962 or at the age of 17, Karen enrolled to become a member of the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus or a teaching institution. In the institution he lasted for seven years.

After completing her degree, Karen took a job teaching English at James Allen’s Girls’ School in Dulwich while working on a memoir of her convent experiences.
Meanwhile, Karen is also trying to return to continue her education at Oxford. However after his thesis was rejected by examiners, he left Oxford without completing his doctorate.
On the other hand, he also started his new career as an independent writer and broadcast presenter. The first book she published was entitled Through the Narrow Gate which recounted her experiences as a nun.

During his time as a writer and author of books, the name Karen Armstrong was awarded many awards. Among them are the Dr. Award. Leopold Lucas by the University of Tübingen in 2009, awarded the Nationalencyklopedin’s International Knowledge Award 2011, and was awarded the Princess of Asturias award in recognition of his investigations into world religions in 2017.
