The summer without E3 still has very important events on the way and among them is gamescom 2023. The German show will once again bring together important companies and their fans in a show that promises great announcements; however, some major companies will be absent.
For several years now, PlayStation and Sony have been absent from gamescom. Unfortunately for its fans, this situation will be repeated in the 2023 edition of the event, as recent reports reveal that companies will not attend the video game fair.

PlayStation will be one of the great absentees at gamescom 2023
According to Gamesmarkt (via PushSquare), Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation will not be returning to gamescom this year as many expected. This means that companies will not have a proper display area at the event.
However, this does not mean that they will be completely absent, since it is very likely that they will make announcements within the framework of the Opening Night Live of gamescom 2023. Said presentation will take place on August 22, at 12:00 PM, time of Mexico City.
Some reports suggested that PlayStation or another major company was going to return to gamescom this year. A few weeks ago we learned that this company was none other than Nintendo, which has already confirmed its participation in this year’s fair.
On the other hand, it is not known if PlayStation has any other event of its own prepared for the coming months or will focus on making announcements at shows such as Opening Night Live and The Game Awards 2023. Some fans believe that the company does need another presentation, yes or yes, because they think that the PlayStation Showcase did not fully comply.
