Israeli troops confront Palestinian activist Ahed al-Tamimi and her mother, Nariman Tamimi during a protest held after the funeral of two-year-old Mohammad al Tamimi, who was killed by Israeli troops in Nabi Saleh village, Ramallah, West Bank on Jun 06
WEST BANK – Palestinian Prime Minister (PM) Mohammad Shtayyeh warned Israel seeks to completely re-occupy the West Bank.
This statement was reported by Anadolu Agency on Thursday (8/6/2023).
“What happened was the reoccupation of the West Bank, whether Area A, or B or C,” said Shtayyeh.
Earlier Thursday, Israeli forces destroyed the house of a Palestinian prisoner in the West Bank.
The house belongs to Islam Froukh, whom Israel accuses of carrying out a bomb attack at a bus terminal in Jerusalem last year, which killed two Israelis.
The demolition of the house displaced the detainee’s parents and four of his sisters.
Shtayyeh called Israel’s demolition of the house a “heinous crime”, which left his entire family homeless.
“This collective punishment, which has never happened in history, is an attempt by the (Israeli) occupation to demoralize our people,” the Palestinian prime minister said.
Under the 1995 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, was divided into three sections namely Areas A, B and C.
The Israeli army often destroys the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks on Israelis.
The policy sparked widespread criticism from human rights groups as a form of collective punishment.
