At the beginning of the year, many Orange customers received notice of a change in the conditions of their rates. This change materialized in a price increase, which took effect in March and affected both mobile rates and convergent plans.
The fiber-only portfolio got rid of the increase at that time, but next month it will undergo important changes that will affect new and existing customers. On July 23, Orange Home, the operator’s new fixed connectivity offer, will be launched. Let’s see what it consists of.
Orange TV at all fiber-only rates
As of July 23, Orange will replace its current fiber-only (and fixed) rates with new versions with fiber, television and more free calls from the landline This means that whoever wants to contract only Orange fiber will have to resort to the other brands of the Group (Jazztel or Simyo).
Currently, Orange only has a single fiber-only rate with football included, but that will change next month. The Home offer with fiber optics and fixed telephony will bring, as its main novelty, the Orange television throughout the portfolio: 60 or 90 channels and with optional football.
There will be three modes to choose from:
Orange Home Inicial (33 euros per month): includes 500 Mbps fiber optic (or ADSL), landline with unlimited calls to landlines and 1,000 minutes to mobile phones, and Orange TV with 60 channels. Before it was 30.95 euros per month without television.
Orange Home Supra (43 euros per month): includes 1 Gbps fiber optic, landline with 24-hour unlimited calls to landlines and 1,000 minutes to mobiles, and Orange TV with 90 channels. Before it was 40.95 euros per month without television.
Orange Home Football (80.95 euros per month): includes 1 Gbps fiber optics, landline with 24-hour unlimited calls to landlines and 1,000 minutes to mobiles, Orange TV with 90 channels and “all football”. No changes in price or services included.
As we can see, the most complete (and most expensive) rate also offers football, but Orange does not specify which football. In his statement, he only talks about the “best national and international football” and refers to the 2022/23 season. Let us remember that, currently, the French operator is in negotiations with Telefónica and DAZN to renew their agreements for the 2023/24 season.
With this launch, therefore, Orange resumes its “more for more” strategy, where the rise in prices (€2.05 more a month) in two of the tariffs will be accompanied by the incorporation of the television service without a decoder.
By opening television access to fiber-only users, it follows the example of other operators that already did so, but since it is included by default, Orange’s starting price (33 euros per month) is cheaper than its rivals.
Vodafone, for example, has a minimum price of 35.40 euros (without decoder), while in MásMóvil and Yoigo (with decoder included) the starting price is 35.99 and 38 euros per month respectively.
These Home rates, as we said, will be available from July 23 in all Orange sales channels and will apply to both new customers and the current portfolio.
The latter have already begun to be informed about the migration of their rate to a new equivalent. If they do not agree, they can unsubscribe.
