The Gran Turismo film wants to be one of the great cinematographic events of this summer, and it is already warming up tires in the pits.
After finding moderate success with Uncharted and The Last of Us series, PlayStation Productions will release its second film this summer. Naturally, we are referring to Gran Turismo, the film inspired by the prolific driving saga of Polyphony Digital.
Neill Blomkampdirector of films like District 9, Chappie or Elysium, assumes the controls of the movie which, strictly speaking, is not an adaptation of the video game.

And it is that Gran Turismo is based on real events: it tells the story of Jann Mardenboroughthe young driving simulator player who, thanks to the championship GT Academyearned a seat in the Nissan team after winning in 2011.
Archie Madekwe will play Mardenborough in the film, which will follow his astonishing rise to rub shoulders with the best, despite many’s disdain for a driver who got his seat by “playing a video game.”
The Gran Turismo movie is coming
Just over two months away from its theatrical release, Sony Pictures y PlayStation Productions have released a new trailer for the Gran Turismo movie that complements what we already saw in the first full trailer.
We see some of the difficulties that Jann Mardenborough will face, the advice of her trainer, Jack Salter, played by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and the presentation of the championship by Danny Moore, whom he plays Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean).
Gran Turismo emphasizes the biggest challenge of all: getting behind the wheel of a racing Nissan in real life is not the same as in a game: a mistake can cost the driver or any rival the life.
That rivalry will also play a key role in Neill Blomkamp’s film, as we see with that scuffle with Nicholas Capa, the character of Josha Stradowski.
The Gran Turismo movie hits theaters next August 11thcon Geri Halliwell Horner, Djimon Hounsou, Sang Heon Lee, Daniel Puig, Thomas Kretschmann, Richard Cambridge, Darren Barnet, Pepe Barroso and Emelia Hartford completing the main cast.
