Depok.suara.com – The Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan met with the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Wednesday (7/6/2023).
During the meeting, the two discussed plans to sign the Indonesia-Malaysia Border Trade Agreement (BTA), which will be held on Thursday (8/6/2023).
Minister of Trade Zulhas hopes that the signing of the BTA can facilitate and improve the welfare of the people on the border between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Apart from discussing the plan to sign the BTA, Trade Minister Zulhas also discussed investment in the Indonesian hospital sector.

The former Minister of Forestry invited the Malaysian health industry to invest in the hospital sector, especially in areas outside Java.
“The hospital sector outside Java Island is not as advanced as in Java Island. This will be a great opportunity to invest in the hospital sector outside the island of Java,” said Zulhas Depok.suara.com.

Not only that, the two ministers also discussed the European Union’s deforestation policy which discriminates against developing countries. The two of them agreed to cooperate intensely because Indonesia and Malaysia have the same interest to protect the people and small farmers.

At this meeting, Trade Minister Zulhas also expressed his support for Malaysia as the host for the Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) International Ministerial Council Meeting and asked for support in the nomination of the IRCo CEO.
“I ask for Malaysia’s support in Indonesia’s nomination as CEO of IRCo for the period September 2023-August 2025. I am also ready to collaborate with Malaysia in formulating the ITRC/IRCo strategic program,” he concluded.
