Suara.com – Expert Staff to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Strategic Planning Yudo Dwinanda Priaadi said reducing coal emissions is one of the roadmaps to clean energy.
The government has announced a net zero emission target (net zero emission/NZE) in 2060 or sooner.
“The road map already exists and we will certainly go into more detail by preparing an annual plan and the most important outline is to reduce coal emissions,” Yudo said as quoted from the esdm.go.id page, on Thursday (8/6) /2023).
He conveyed this while attending the Merdeka Barat 9 Forum (FMB9) event entitled “Ecosystem Towards Clean Energy” at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo), Jakarta, Monday (5/6/2023).

On the same occasion, he also conveyed another important step with the use of new and renewable energy (EBT). Indonesia has great potential energy sources such as solar, hydro, and geothermal. Apart from that, what is equally important is to reduce energy consumption currently used.
“One thing that everyone can do in an effort to reduce energy use is with energy efficiency so that we can save more energy, for example by turning off the air conditioner and lights when leaving the room. This change in behavior is important in making the energy transition to NZE,” said Judo.
Furthermore, he explained that the energy transition in a global sense must also consider the main thing, namely maintaining each other’s energy security, where energy security is not disrupted due to the shift from fossil energy to green energy.
“The energy transition must also consider price affordability so that energy prices must also be affordable by the public,” he said.
He revealed that the government is currently making regulations for the use of clean energy and it is hoped that this will be completed in 2023, namely the New Energy and Renewable Energy Law (UU EBET). The law will be the main foundation for Indonesia to make the energy transition more quickly.

In addition, the existing regional general energy plan (RUED) policies will be revised to adapt to existing developments, both technology and policies such as the previously absent NZE 2060 target.
