The Mexican Stock Market (BMV) advanced this Monday a 0.57% in its main indicator, until reaching 53 thousand 536.05 unitsrecovering the losses suffered in the second half of May.
“The capital market closed the session with losses, with the main stock indexes correcting part of the gains they achieved last week,” explained the director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.
In Mexico it was the opposite, said the expert, after the Price and Quotation Index (IPC)the main indicator of the BMV, “closed the session with a gain of 0.57%with the index recovering part of the losses it suffered in the second half of May due to greater risk aversion on the Mexican economy”.
He pointed out that of the 36 main issuers of the IPC, 22 registered profits, highlighting Controladora Axtel (+3.1%), Walmex (+2.9%), Televisa (+1.94%), Banco del Bajío (+1.87%) and Arca Continental (+1.75%).
With the advance of this day, the IPC registers a gain of 10.47% so far this year and is located at -6.18% from its all-time high of 56 thousand 536.68 pointsreached on April 1, 2022.
In the session, the peso appreciated a 0.51% against the dollarwhen trading at 17.46 units per greenbackafter being valued at 17.55 in the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session in 53 thousand 536.05 unitswith a profit of 303.34 points and a positive variation of the 0.57% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded in the market reached 157.4 million titles for an amount of 9,022 million pesos.
Of the 511 firms that traded on the day, 221 they ended up with their prices rising, 258 they had losses and 32 closed unchanged.
The shares with the greatest upward variation were from the garbage collection company Promotora Ambiental (PASS B), with 8.97%; the telecommunications services firm Axtel in its series Axtel (AXTEL CPO), with 3.85%and Parent Axtel (CTAXTEL), with 3.10%.
In contrast, the largest downward changes were from the energy infrastructure company Sempra Energy (SRE), with -2.34%; the drug distributor Genomma Lab Internacional (LAB B), with -2.15%and the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP B), with -2.08%.
During the day, three sectors advanced, the frequent consumption (0.82%), financial (0.4%) and materials (0.17%), and one fell, industrial (-0.66%).
