This year’s July issue of the magazine Monthly Comic Flapper of Kadokawa released the final chapter of the manga on Monday Locke the Superman Aspiration (Chōjin Locke Dо̄kei) by Yuki Hijiri. Hijiri’s longtime assistant, Sakura Sasakura, finished the story based on the storyboard and plot that the original creator left behind.
A volume of the book compiled with the chapter will ship later this year. The manga Locke the Superman Aspiration debuted in November 2020. The fifth chapter, the most recent one before the finale, was launched in July 2021. Hijiri died of pneumonia on October 30, 2022, he was 72 years old. Hijiri is known for the manga series Chojin Locke (Locke the Superman). He was also the character and mechanics designer for series such as Voltes V, Fighting General Daimos and Future Robot Daltanious.
The Locke the Superman manga was launched in dōjinshi by the Sakuga Group in 1967. The series then made its trade magazine debut in Minori Shobō’s Monthly Out in 1977. The manga was published in the magazine Shonen King Of Shonegahosha from 1979 to 1988, when the magazine ceased publication. The works of the series then appeared in various magazines and the manga was launched on Monthly Comic Flapper in 2007. The manga inspired an anime film in 1984. The franchise also inspired a novel in 1984 and radio dramas in 1996.
Hijri he threw Chōjin Locke: Bringer of Chaos (Locke the Superman: Chaos Bringer) in Young King Ours in November 2019. Shonegahosha released the first compiled book volume of the manga in September 2020.
Hijri had serialized the manga Chōjin Locke Kagami no Ori (Locke the Superman The Mirror Chamber) in Young King Ours and the manga Chōjin Locke Gaia no Kiba (Locke the Superman The Fang of Gaia) in the magazine Monthly Comic Flapper Of Kadokawa. Locke the Superman The Fang of Gaia celebrated the 50th anniversary of the original manga.
