KIEV – President Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky point Russia as the party that destroyed the Nova Kakhovka dam. Calling Russia a terrorist, Zelensky said the outrage made it clear to the whole world that they must be expelled from every corner of Ukrainian soil.
“Russian terrorist. The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam only confirms to the whole world that they must be driven out of every corner of Ukrainian soil,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.
“Not a single meter should be handed over to them, because they use every meter for terror,” he added as quoted by Al Jazeera, Tuesday (6/6/2023).
Zelensky himself held an emergency meeting after the massive dam was hit by gunfire in the Kherson region.
Afterwards, Zelensky said that Russian troops blew up the Nova Kakhovka dam from the inside.
In a Telegram post, he said the attack was carried out at 2.50am local time and had left about 80 settlements in the flood zone.
“Russian terrorists carried out internal detonation of the structure of the Karkhovka Hydroelectric Power Station,” he said.
“Ordered to carry out evacuation from risk areas and provide drinking water to all towns and villages supplied from the Kakhovka Reservoir,” he continued.
“We are doing everything to save people. All services, military, government, offices are involved,” he added as quoted by Sky News.
