One of the main changes that Marvel has had at the end of the Infinity Saga is that has introduced its new main antagonist for the Phases to Come, which is Kang, The Conqueror. This villain already had his great appearance in the events of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumia. Although some fans think that Thanos must return to understand the true power of Kang.
It is known that Kang will be the villain to beat in the upcoming MCU movies, replacing Thanos who had his role throughout the Infinity Saga. However, although this variant of Kang will be the main antagonist, everything indicates that his great power will not be shown in the movies and there is a particular reason for this.
Kang’s true power may not show up in the MCU
Kang, The Conqueror, already had his first big appearance in the UCM, well was the main villain of the Ant-Man & The Wasp feature film: Quantumania which was released some time ago. In this film it was possible to demonstrate the true potential of this villain, although perhaps there is a way to defeat him definitively.
When it comes to birth powers or abilities, Kang doesn’t stand out for having those qualities, like other villains do. However, the true potential of this villain lies in his mastery of advanced technology and weapons. It is this, coupled with his intellect, that makes him a formidable and fearsome opponent.
The Cosmic Cube has been the main weapon of Kang, The Conqueror.
In the comics, the primary weapon Kang has shown has been the Cosmic Cube. This space object debuted in comic #79 of Suspenseful Adventures. And since then it has become one of the most desired weapons by all kinds of beings with evil intentions, since it has a great potential to grant wishes and modify reality at your whim.
In the MCU, the Cosmic Cube was depicted as the Tesseract and his first appearance was in the film Captain America: The First Avenger. Although some time later it was learned that this object contained one of the Infinity Gems, endowing it with all its powers.
It is unlikely that Marvel will reintroduce the Cosmic Cube in their films as Kang’s weapon to allude to the comicsbecause it is a weapon that already had its importance at the time, since Loki’s first great adventure was in search of this object.
The Tesseract was introduced early in the Infinity Saga, so Marvel may have no intention of ever drawing on its power again for Kang.
In that sense, putting the spotlight back on the Tesseract could signify a kind of reversal of history, since it was an object used in the past. Also, fans could see this as the company having run out of ideas and recycling content.
So, all indications are that Kang won’t be able to use his Cosmic Cube in the movies, like he has in the comics for so many years. But this does not mean that the villain can not contribute more to the plot, since Marvel can manage to reveal the true power of this villain in other ways; considering that this is the most dangerous variant of Kang and that there are many more in the multiverse.
