MOSCOW – In an exclusive interview with RT, President of the Kalashnikov Group, Alan Lushnikov, spoke about opening a rifle factory in India.
He also explains how the new weapon works in combat, and what motivates the company to do what it does.
“For me, this is first of all an opportunity to give my country what it needs for its security,” Lushnikov told RT, in an interview that first aired on Monday (29/5/2023).
He explained, “The main reason why we are doing all this is to enable our country to be able to defend itself. If you commit to this task, everything else will come by itself.”
Kalashnikov, in his opinion, makes “the world’s best product”, which is sold both at home and abroad.
However, the company doesn’t do it to satisfy some personal ambition or ego. “You have to make the world’s best products to make sure your motherland is safe,” he said.
As well as the “simple and reliable” design of automatic rifles, Kalashnikov also makes sniper rifles, drones such as the widely used Lancet, and even combat uniforms for the Russian military.
Just last week, the company announced it had set up a separate division dedicated to designing and building drones.
Lushnikov would not comment on specific Lancet developments, joking that these would be kept private.
