Jennifer Lopez is not lowered from first place in the ranking and, after 4 weeks, has managed to sneak into Netflix’s Top 10 history.
The mother may not be anywhere near the best movie of Jennifer Lopez. And the gods know that it is not even the most original nor does it have the best Netflix production. But, uh, no one can argue with the audience data that it has been collecting for four weeks in a row.
The movie of Niki Caro (Mulan) turns Jennifer Lopez into a relentless and lethal assassin who, after being a mother, understands that she cannot raise a daughter and continue to dedicate herself to her own business. So she decides to give her up for adoption, but never lets her off her radar. When danger looms, the two embark on a fast-paced adventure full of challenges.

Although The Mother has already lost the initial pull it had in the Netflix catalog, the tape original of the streaming platform continues to cling to number 1 in the ranking of English-language films.
Last week, the mother added other 16.4 million hours of viewing on Netflix, which leaves the movie by Jennifer Lopez with a total of 229.3 million hours.
Entering Netflix’s historical Top 10 and unseating Scorsese himself
The total sum may not seem like much compared to other Netflix movies, but it is enough for The Mother to unseat one of the most ambitious original productions on the platform.
By entering the Netflix Top 10, which values the views of a movie or series in its first 28 days on Netflix, The Mother has displaced The Irishman, the long-running gangster movie from Martin Scorsese released in 2019.
The movie could still scratch a few views to move up a bit higher and surpass Tyler Rake and The Adam Project in the rankings, before reaching those 28 total days – the first week only counted as 3 days.
On Netflix they have to be happy with the performance of The Mother. Jennifer Lopez’s original film has met the platform’s favorite standard: moderate costs and great viewer performance.
