In March, we learned that Telefónica had been excluded from the call for the future contract, tendered for a maximum value of 119.6 million euros. Only Orange and Vodafone would opt for it, and we already know how they are going to distribute it.
Two brokers for Vodafone and three for Orange
Vodafone has been the first to officially announce it. The joint venture formed by the British telecommunications company and the Spanish Society of Industrial Companies SA (SEMI) has been awarded the contract to provide 5G to the high-speed routes of Albacete-Alicante and Barcelona-Figueras.
The amount of the contract corresponding to these two sections exceeds 25.5 million euros, has a duration of 5 years and includes the design, construction, installation and maintenance of the 700 and 800 Mhz infrastructures to bring 5G to these two routes. of the Spanish High Speed.
SEMI will be in charge of engineering and construction of civil works, while Vodafone will deploy the 5G network, using Ericsson technology. The owner of that network will ultimately be Adif.
The deployment will have to be finished before December 2025 and maintenance will run until December 2028.
Although Orange has not officially communicated it yet, knowing what Vodafone has taken, we can conclude that the orange operator has been awarded the three remaining routes, divided into lots 1 and 2, and tendered for a total of 72 million euros.
Lot 1 includes two runners: Plasencia-Cáceres-Badajoz and Granada-Antequera; Lot 2, for its part, includes a single runner: Olmedo-Ourense.
